What is Black FI-day?
Black FI-day is a casual weekend camp for people on the financial independence journey. Think less conference, more campfire. A place where you can say "Do you know your KiwiSaver fund's fees off the top of your head?" and everyone around the campfire actually does.
Our past attendees describe it as one of the most energising weekends of their year — not because of any single session, but because of the conversations that happen in between.

What to expect
I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.
Black FI-day runs from Friday afternoon through to Sunday.
You'll arrive, find your bunk, and settle in before our Thanksgiving-style dinner on Friday night. From there it's a loose mix of sessions, long lunches, walks, and plenty of unstructured time for the conversations that tend to be the real highlight.
Evenings wind down around the campfire. By Sunday you'll have a pile of new ideas, a few new friends, and probably a list of things to tweak in your own FI plan.
It's relaxed, it's friendly, and there's no pressure to be anywhere you don't want to be.
Connection
Get to know a group of people who just get it. The FI community is unlike any other. Warm, generous, and genuinely excited to meet you.
Learning
Sessions, workshops, and open conversations with people who are on the same journey and have real stories to share.
Community
Shared meals, a Thanksgiving-style dinner, and the kind of late-night conversations that change how you see things.
"I finally found my tribe! The people who talk openly about money — highs and lows — and share all their learnings and tips. Within a week I had shaved off $1,500 from my annual expenses and become much more confident in my mindset around money. My partner even commented on how positive and energised I was. Totally worth it!"
— Sam, Black FI-day attendee, 2024
