Meet the team behind our events

Ignite events is a passion project and all events are organised by a small army of enthusiastic volunteers from the FI community. Thank you doesn't even begin to cut it for those who so generously give their time & expertise for their FI tribe!

Our chief wrangler and imaginationist is Bronwyn, who lives in Christchurch.

Bronwyn's Story

A few years ago, I was working away, listening to the radio. I was being constantly bombarded by Black Friday ads (I’m looking at you Harvey Norman) promoting rampant consumerism, likely all to be financed by the worst kind of debt.

This got me thinking... I would love to get away from it all. Somewhere I wouldn’t have to listen to all this advertising. To be fully present and connect with my companions over toasted marshmallows.

Who to hang out with? I was hungering for the FI tribe. Those who would roll their eyes with me at all the sales and not be out splashing the plastic this weekend. And not just because their credit cards were already maxed out, but because they honestly understand there is more to life.

I came across Camp Mustache and Camp FI in the States and knew many great minds had thought alike before I came along. I wished we had those kinds of events in New Zealand and over lockdown resolved to make it happen!

I'm creating these events because I want to go to them and to build a community.
